New Seneca Village :

Restorative Journey Residencies for Healers

New Seneca Village (the Village) is a restorative residency experience that invites leaders and healers to access expansive resources (time, space, access to nature, restorative practices, intentional community and higher consciousness) for the sake of nourishing and sustaining their collective visioning for a just future.

The Village offering is designed for leaders working to advance justice in the world and is an invitation to center restoration, connection and visioning as leadership practices within an intentional community.

With this offering, we hope to contribute to leaders’ personal and professional development of practices that support their ability to nourish and sustain their collective visioning for a just future.  We believe that sourcing our leadership in new ways is critical in a world that is increasing in complexity and urgency.

We prioritize leaders who work in non-profit spaces, in particular frontline movement organizers, elders, low-income folks and others to whom resources are not traditionally extended and whose work is about advancing collective progress.

More on how we define leaders here.

We are in awe of the love, intention and commitment that you pour into your life and healing offerings. We recognize your intention as a powerful source in allowing new visions for our collective reality to emerge.

Our intention in bringing together leaders and healers is to explore as a community what is possible when restoration, connection and visioning are centered in our lives and work. We also wonder what is possible when we (leaders and healers alike) are holistically and abundantly resourced.

Healers are an integral part of the Village community, holding the residency/s energetic container with the Village team while providing group and individual restorative practice offerings for the Village community.

Healers during the residency also have time and space to deeply engage and embed restoration into their own life,

leadership and offerings.

VILLAGE OFFERING FOR HEALERS

Healers are invited to join New Seneca Village to provide group and individual restorative practice offerings - sessions and experiences -  for Villagers at the residency.

We invite in healers across a wide range of modalities; energy, embodied, movement, somatic, therapeutic, ancestral and expressive arts.

We define restorative practice offerings broadly as teachings, activities, rituals etc. that support re-engagement or deepening of our connection to our wise inner self. We delight in practices that orient us to peace and our own power, to renewed knowing and to expanding our practices of centering restoration, connection and visioning.

We invite in healers across a wide range of modalities; energy, embodied, movement, somatic, therapeutic, ancestral and expressive arts. More on how we define healers here

Healers are a key participants in New Seneca Village. They support the Village team in holding a container of restorative care while providing individual and group restorative practice offerings at the in-person residency.

Healers are expected to attend 3 prep meetings (one of which will be on site) and participate in each of the 3 Restorative Vision Circle series sessions to begin to build relationship with the community. All Villagers including healers will attend opening and closing circles while at the residency.

After the residency, healers are expected to attend a final debrief session with the NSV team to reflect and share lessons learned about the residency

At the residency healers offer approximately 8-10 hours of group and individual offerings. Generally healers provide one group offering or 2-3 individual offerings per day, depending on preference and needs.

Healers will receive payment of $2000 (depending on length of residency), travel stipends of up to $1,000 and accommodation and meals while on residency

Village Healer Commitments

Healers commit to attending 3 prep sessions (two virtual in advance of the residency and one on the first full day of residency).

At the residency, healers offer approximately 10-12 hours of group and individual offerings within the 7 day residency. It is our intention that everyone on residency with New Seneca Village experience time and space to tend to their own restorative practice and the healer offering schedule is designed with spaciousness in mind.

Post-residency, healers close out their contracts with a final debrief session with the Village team to reflect and share lessons learned about the residency.

Healers will receive payment of $1,500 - $2,200 (depending on the length of residency), travel stipends of up to $1,000 and accommodation and meals while on residency.

Please note: Healers are considered Villagers and are expected to participate in all of the Village circles, each of the three Restorative Vision Circle series online sessions and the opening and closing circles while at the residency.

This will be an experience that no words can capture. To know that there is a "safe island", where you learn and know how it actually feels to BE, to be taken care of guilt free,

no strings attached, and listen to your own rhythm. While also connecting with like minded folks from across the states and neighboring countries.”

Our New Seneca Village Healer Philosophy

The Healer’s Philosophy is a framework that grounds our understanding of the container created at each residency and communicates our expectations for anyone providing offerings to the Village.

  • Each Villager is on their own healing journey, sometimes explicit and sometimes implicit.

  • The power and ability to heal is alive and well with each Villager (there is nothing to fix, nothing broken, nor missing).

  • Each healer is offering Villagers the opportunity to connect, feel, observe, encounter themselves, and to pause, reflect, and grow.

  • Each healer is responsible for the consequences of their intervention, modality, and technique, and each Villager is responsible for their own healing process.

Healer Consultations

The NSV experience is an experience of so much choice and abundant nourishment, that it can be hard to believe!

It can be a feeling of... what's the catch? There is no catch! You really get to be deeply supported in your Restoration. You really get to choose and prioritize exactly what you need to do for yourself in each moment. Whether it's a nap, a walk, a spontaneous conversation... NSV is a sacred and powerful opportunity to allow ourselves to BE, and discover what wants to emerge and unfold in our beings with that type of time, space, care, and permission.

For healers, I recommend rooting into the lens of restoration, designing offerings to be simple and "not doing to much", trusting the wisdom of the group and each individual as their own healer, and being open to the emergence and flow of meeting each person right where they are at in the moment and the unique needs that might come with that! I also recommend for healers to take the time/space you need in your residency outside of the work to stay abundant in your own capacity!”

Taraneh Sarrafzadeh, Somatic Healing & Embodied Creative Practices, Bay Area, CA

After the Open House, if your restorative offerings are a match for our residencies the Village will reach out for a consultation to see if you and we are aligned on the invitation.

It is our goal to invite healers to a particular residency at least 3-6 months in advance so that you will have ample time to accept, plan travel arrangements and participate in our Restorative Vision Circle series (details below in the Agreements section).

New Seneca Village will review and invite healers in alignment with our intentions as defined in our Founding Commitments.

I was asked by a white friend how was the retreat and what made it different from other retreats.

I replied, "You know how you walk through your life without any worries of being harmed, exploited, abused or micro-aggressed and how the system works in your favor?

I was able to experience that for the first time in my life...for seven days."

Restorative Vision Circles
Pre - Residency Connection

New Seneca Villagers come together in advance of their respective residency for three sessions of reflection, intention setting and connection.

The Restorative Vision Circle Series is designed to allow Villagers to prepare for the residency and the longer-term practice of integrating restorative practices into their lives and work, while also building relationships with others in our intentional community.

The Circle series support Villagers' ability to be present and grounded when we gather in person so that all are able to more openly access restoration, connection and visioning during the residency.

Time Commitment:

6 hours (3 2-hour sessions)

in the 1-2 months before the

in-person residency.

Feedback

In order to co-create tailored residency experiences, evolve our offerings and further define (and fundraise for) the intentional community of New Seneca Village,

we rely on Villager feedback.

We anticipate asking for 4 - 6 hours of your time providing feedback via surveys

over a 6 - 8 month time period.

Your participation in this feedback process during the NSV pilot years will enable opt-in

feedback for future Villagers.

It will also support our ability to fundraise if we can gather and share about the impact of this offering.

Village Exchange

Participation in New Seneca Village is complementary and we believe in energetic exchange.

Our request is that you exchange at least 12 hours of your time - within the year following your residency - to connect with, learn from, share with and support others within the Village community.

We know how much wisdom and brilliance lies in our collective community. And that brilliance shows up beyond your work in the world.

We encourage you to bring your full self to this exchange - what delights and intrigues you and what are your wonderings, in addition to your work and professional expertise. In this way we will build a strong community of sustained leaders who are uniquely interconnected with one another over time.

Invitation to Pause

As You Consider This Invitation for Your Self

Sit quietly and comfortably with your feet on the ground.

Take 8 cleansing breaths. [In through the nose. Out through the mouth.]

Imagine the feels, smells, tastes and sounds of intentional community.

Sense the energy of those around you as you gather virtually and physically to co-create spaces centered on restoration, connection and visioning.

~ Is this an offering I want to say yes to?

~ What am I willing to offer to this space?

~ Am I a (joy)full yes to the wholeness of this offering?

Close with 3 deep breaths.
